GridShib SAML Tools
Version 0.3.0 (March 3, 2008)

Welcome to GridShib!

GridShib is an NSF-funded project to integrate Globus Toolkit® and Shibboleth.® Visit the GridShib web site (http://gridshib.globus.org/) for background information about the GridShib Project.

GridShib distributes four software components:

  1. GridShib for Globus Toolkit
  2. GridShib for Shibboleth
  3. GridShib Certificate Authority
  4. GridShib SAML Tools

With both GridShib for Globus Toolkit and GridShib for Shibboleth installed, Globus Toolkit may securely request attributes from the Attribute Authority component of a Shibboleth Identity Provider. Visit the GridShib web site for more information about these and other GridShib software components.

This is the readme document for GridShib SAML Tools: TeraGrid Science Gateway SAML extension. The SAML Tools bind arbitrary content to a non-critical extension of an X.509 proxy certificate. See the top-level readme document for more information about GridShib SAML Tools.

The TeraGrid Science Gateway SAML extension is a software tool with a command-line interface (like grid-proxy-init) and a Java API that gateway developers can use to bind a SAML assertion to an X.509 proxy certificate. The SAML assertion includes end user identity and contact information that resource poviders can use for auditing, incident response, and access control.

For more information about the TeraGrid Science Gateway SAML extension, please visit the TeraGrid wiki:

The above page shows TeraGrid Science Gateway developers how to integrate the GridShib SAML Tools into their portal environment.
